I’m proud to endorse David Cohen on his race for City Council in District 4 because I trust him to be a strong advocate for San Jose working families.

 

I’ve had the pleasure of knowing David for more than 15 years and I have had the honor of working alongside David for 13 of those years, serving the needs of our local families throughout his time on the Berryessa School Board. The both of us are proud to call San Jose our home and share a passion towards making our community better for everyone living here.

 

For more than a decade, as a Berryessa School Board Member, David has an open-door policy where he actively listens to the voices in his community. This includes having standing lunch meetings with Berryessa teachers, staff and union leadership at every school to discuss issues and finding opportunities to work together.

 

When it was time to make critical decisions on the school budget, David was an energetic and effective voice advocating on behalf of workers and students. He has stood against cuts to health benefits of teachers and staff and has pushed the school district towards paying educators a higher wage they deserve.

 

I know David will bring this approach with him to the City Council. There, he will be a leader who will work to strengthen opportunities for local working families. I’m proud to be among his first supporters on his campaign and urge the South Bay Labor Council to join me in supporting David Cohen as the next San Jose City Councilor in District 4."
